Unteroffizierschule des Heeres, Lehrgruppe D

Wappen Deutsches Heer, Lehrgruppe C

Lehrgruppe C, which emerged in 2003 from the Heeresunteroffizerschule II (HUS) and was stationed here in Weiden, relocated to Delitzsch in summer of 2010; however, it was replaced with the newly formed Lehrgruppe D.

Approximately 500 prospective Noncommissioned Officers are being trained per quarter at the academy.  More than 200 soldiers and civilian employees are permanently stationed at the Ostmarkkaserne to support the training.  They are responsible for instructing the students in subjects like military law, civic education, combat training, English, military history, tactics, physical fitness, and weapons training.

Lehrgruppe D, its soldiers and civilian employees are firmly established in the Upper Palatinate, which is easily noticed by the active partnership with the city of Weiden since 1994.

Weiden supports its soldiers!  This is evident with the numerous end-of-cycle exercises, public parades and social gatherings, which are held in towns like Neusorg, Irchenrieth, Flossenbürg, Vohenstrauß, Tirschenreuth, or Luhe-Wildenau as well as other locations in this area like the Max-Reger-Halle in Weiden.

Not to forget is the joint battle to preserve the Ostmarkkaserne with its continuation of the Bundeswehr stationing in this region.

But also the citizens of Weiden can depend on their soldiers!  Be it through the use by the Weiden associations of the physical fitness and recreation facilities, the yearly participation to remember the “Kristallnacht (crystal night)” or the selling of stew to support the “social city” of Weiden.

Citizens and Citizens in uniform-in Weiden we live together!!
